Give Me My Key Back!
On Saturday, my automatic 2001 Civic refused to give me my key back (locked in the ignition in Accessory mode) unless I disconnected the battery. This probably had something to do with me being pissed off and slamming the shifter from Reverse to Park while the car was stationary (stupid, I know).
Last night, I took apart the center console in hopes of finding a broken switch or some kind of misalignment in sensors that was causing this issue. No such luck. I left the center console open so that a few former mechanics I work with can take a look at work today. But now the (stock) radio isn't working - doesn't seem to be getting power. What a long, boring ride to work...
Two questions:
1) What would be causing the key to not be returned without disconnecting the battery? Where can I find the culprit? Could this also be why I am able to shift gears when the car is off without pushing on the brake?
2) Should I expect the radio to work again once I put the center console back together? I'm assuming there's some interlock switch I'm not seeing that cuts power to the radio when the console is removed (some kind of anti-theft agent perhaps), but I'm not sure.
Thanks for your help!

Re: Give Me My Key Back!
So, I believe I found the culprit. If you look at the picture below, it seems as though the pin circled needs to slide forward and up when the car is in park. I validated this hypothesis by turning the car on, leaving it in park, and activating the black finger switch attached to the gray body. The key was easily removed from the ignition.

Now, the questions become:
A) Can the pin be fixed or do I need some replacement parts? If replacement, do I need to buy the whole base or just the shaft that the pin is part of?
B) Still no conclusion on whether the radio will work after reassembly. Any ideas?
