Question 03 civic lx heater problems

When I am driving in "town" (60 mph or below), my temp guage will go from middle of the gauge to the top and back down. Before it starts climbing the heater will blow out cold air. When it comes back down the air returns to hot. I don't notice this when I am on the interstate. I have tried using the recirculate button and that has no affect either way.

Where to start?

Check your coolant level. Was your coolant system recently opend up for service? It sounds like you have air in the system. I reccomend filling it up as much as possible to the radiator neck.

When the car is cold:
-Turn the car on
-Put the **** to the hot setting
-Open the radiator cap and fill
-Fill until you cant fill any more then top off your coolant tank
Its best to have the nose of the car as high as possible
