03 Honda Civic EX AC ODOR, Where is the drain and condenser hose?
03 Honda Civic EX AC ODOR, Where is the drain and condenser hose?
Hey I know this is a very common thread, but I can't seem to find any information about WHERE my AC condenser hose is located so that I can unclog it. Some people have mention below the glove box in the cabin but I can't find anything there.
Also, I assume the actual drain pipe itself is clogged, causing a mold to grow somewhere and thus producing the smell. (It only smells bad when the AC is on low, not on recirculation mode. Have tried the lysol thing, it didn't fix it, maybe helped for a few days...or just masked the odor.) I just bought the car and I know it had been parked under a tree while the previous owner had it. And is parked under a tree now. (nothing I can do about that)
Someone please tell me where I can find this hose, tips to unclog it, and where to find the drain pipe underneath the car and tips to unclog it also.
It's a 2003 Honda Civic. Thanks!

im not sure where the hose is, but they usually do not clog. mildew happens even if the hose is not clogged. try blasting the heater for 5 mins, it should get rid of the smell. also check the cabin air filters.

The drain hose is under the car, near the firewall. I just saw a video a while back where the guy used compressed air to clear a clogged one.
When the A/C is on (takes a little while though) you should have clear water dripping from the drain.

i wonder if a turbo snake would work lol. ive looked for that tube every time i had the car jacked up and never could find it.

Do you leave the A/C in re-circ when you turn the car off? When you do that you tend to get mold or mildew growth. Change the cabin filters and spray some mold and mildew stuff in there while you're there. Then remember to turn it to fresh air before you turn the car off.
Are you looking for the condenser or the heater core? To clear the condenser you have to crack the A/C system and then have it re-filled afterwords. The condenser is right in front of the radiator and looks like a mini radiator. I think you're looking for the heater core which is behind the dash. You need C.L.R. and compressed air to clean it. Here's how to clean the heater core: [autostream]http://autostream.com/ibcivicforums/?page_type=firebirdplayerthumbnail&framepage=104&t ransactionid=1316482755-719016086&posted_by=lazlong_www.civicforums.com&yo utube_video_id=dcL_0TWeZJY[/autostream]
We need to know why you're wanting to "clear" this line if we're to help you because right now you seem really confused.

Heater core hoses:

That's the airbox in the fore-ground
Condenser hose:

That's the power steering pump in the fore-ground

Lazlong, thanks for the information. I only suspect that a clogged hose is the problem, I have no idea. I have checked the cabin air filter...it is dirty, but has no odor whatsoever. I plan to purchase a new one, but for the time being I just vacuumed it really well and put it back in.
I never ever have the recirculation button on so I can't imagine that is the problem?
I have no prior auto mechanic knowledge whatsoever so I imagine I will have to resort to taking the car in to get it worked on. It just seems so stupid for a little mold. But it won't go away. And I don't want some mechanic just spraying some stuff in there thinking it's going to fix the problem. It's gotta be something more complicated than that and I don't want them wasting more of my money than is necessary.
What do you suggest?
