resurrected - the unanswerable question about engine stuttering

Hi all,

I brought this up about three years ago:

My 2008 post on engine stuttering.

I was just wondering if there are any new insights on this topic? Just yesterday I did a lot of highway driving (about 250kms), and the rest of the day was city driving, and I could get the engine to *not* stutter while in the city. It stutters while I'm accelerating in 1st gear, and then again in 2nd gear, and then it's perfectly fine after that.

It's really just an irritation more than anything. Because today the car probably won't stutter at all. That's just the way it goes.

I was wondering if because I live in Canada and we have a damp climate, if it's possible that water gets into the gas tank somehow, and that causes the stuttering?

Anyways, I appreciate any insight.

Cheers.
