Code 7-2 SRS unit failure. How to replace?
Sup guys!
Got a nagging problem I just diagnosed thanks to this awesome site.
Tried resetting it multiple times, to no avail. Light came right back on after the two flashes.
Jumpered the OBD-II code reader at pins 4 and 9. SRS light flashed 7 times steady, then 2 times quickly. Have a video I could post...somehow??
SO:
Where exactly is my SRS unit located? Heard it was under passanger seat, and under center console.... I found used ones for $100, Stealer wanted $375 new.
Also, I have an 02 LX dash installed...light was on before, and right after the swap
BTW ive read ALL other previous posts related to SRS, 7-2, all that. I do my research!!
I wanna do a DIY on this bad boy. My inspection is up in April...so no more dithering, LOL.

The SRS Unit is #4 here at south bay honda for 250 dollars:

It's located under the center console
Good luck, can't wait for yet another DIY!

Re: Code 7-2 SRS unit failure. How to replace?
tbohar to the rescue again!!
Thanks man!!
Under the center console...What else could I do while there...shim the shift linkage to be tighter? Custom shift boot?...dont want to open it up and do ONE thing, ya know?
Would you reccomend bringing it to the stealer just to rule out anything else? Im not too savy with electrical stuff. I wouldnt want to replace the unit, only to have the light come back on again...
Oh and a side note. After pulling the codes, my car wouldnt start. Turned over, but seemed to just not want to start. I then went on a short errand and when I came back, I tried it again. It started, then idled all weird and scary for 30sec or so....then back to normal...WTF was that all about?

Can't really explain the car running funny here... You could change your shift linkeage bushings to aluminum. There really isn't all that much to do under there... I'd get an opinion from the dealership but by the sounds of it it's the unit
Talk them into a free diagnostic check (they will do it, trust me)

Re: Code 7-2 SRS unit failure. How to replace?
I had my Siemens unit go last year. Since i did not have a garage and coll as hell, i left to the stealer to change it.
Now, remember that they said it needs to be programmed - don't know details, did not search it at the time - was without internet after just moving here to Canada...). For that, they told me that i could change it myself, but had to take the car later to there to program it.
Since i already had replaced it, did not look further to see if programming is required, it would just been unnerving to me if not

Re: Code 7-2 SRS unit failure. How to replace?
After a long, hazy crazy Bike Week in Daytona FL, im back to follow up on this thread.
I got all ready to purchase the SRS unit and do another DIY, but I figured, wait a sec man, is this really needed? So after a little research, I have concluded that a SRS light will NOT cause failure of PA state inspection. Done and Done.

eh, you never seen that airbag suits they were developing?
Some looked like the marshmallow-man michelan
Also, i know some chicks that comes with front/rear airbags too - they will never break their noses in a frontal fall but might hit hard the back of the heads in a rear fall
and they are deployed full time
