GM syncromesh in civic transmission?
GM syncromesh in civic transmission?
Hey guys as im sure many of you experience I have a 2001 Civic Ex or Si Canada. Anyways shifting has been a bit rough in the winter. I did the trans fluid about 30,000km ago. Maybe thinking of doing it again or ive also heard some people use synchro mesh imrpoves it a lot. The problems I have is that it pops out of 2nd gear frequently and going into 3rd and 4th gear you have to push hard to get into gear. Anybody know much about gm synchromesh fluid

I heard that too, so I tried it. It decreased the occurrence of my 2nd gear popping out for a while. However, my 2nd gear pops out of gear fairly frequently now.. I'll check later to see how long ago I changed to GM Synchromesh.. I'm still running that fluid in my tranny.

Have you tried the Redline MTF? I loved that stuff. I think I may go back to it again. I needed to change my axles and it was much easier and quicker to get 2 qts of the OEM stuff. I also heard good things about the GM Synchromesh in Honda transmissions.

The GM fluid is some great stuff in a manual Honda trans! Rotella is also great!
Your root problem is worn syncronizers. The trans needs to be replaced or rebuilt.
