Brain fart: Is the knuckle threaded or the caliper?
Brain fart: Is the knuckle threaded or the caliper?
Hi,
Was reinstalling my driver side caliper after changing the balljoint and either stripped the bolt or the thread. I was so angry I left the car and totally forgot whether the caliper is threaded or the knuckle is threaded. I'm quite sure it is the knuckle. I'm away from the garage so I'm trying to figure out how to fix it after I drill out the bolt tomorrow. I was thinking buy an oversize self tapping bolt or helicoil. Thanks in advance!

This should jog your memory:

Been a minute since I messed with my brakes, but I thought it was bolt into pin.

Bolt into knuckle pin or bolt into caliper pin? I'm talking about the bolt with 17 mm head, a m10 I believe. Thanks! Number 15 in the diagram

threaded in the caliper. just did front brakes this weekend and i seem to remember sliding the caliper between the knuckle and the disc before tightening the bolt.
