Shifting problem

My car just started to shift poorly after second gear. From 1st to 2nd it will shift perfectly. Then afterwards it's ridiculous. It will go all the way to redlining while barely accelerating until you let off the accelerator, after that it will shift up when you re-accelerate. Any tips on what the problem could be and a solution.
The only problem my computer reads with the "check engine" light is "catalytic converter" issue. I'm assuming it's just an 02 censor that's faulty. But I know that wont cause any shifting errors.

Re: Shifting problem

I'm assuming its an auto, if its slipping that much it means your transmission is toast. Its a common problem with 01-05 civics, the clutch pack is defective and the fluid filter is poorly designed. The options for repair are a new trans, around $4000; a used trans, but sell the car because it will likely fail; a rebuilt trans, again sell the car; or a manual conversion.

Use the search button, you'll find lots of information on this problem.
