can't open center console drawer
can't open center console drawer
hey i have an 01 civic LX sedan (canadian) and there is a cubby hole in the the center console with a roll top cover on it and i put a pen in there and it has jamed the roll top cover on the storage compartment. I was just wondering how to get the roll top cover out as i have tried to open up the storage area with no success and i fell as though the only way to get it open would be to either take the top off of the console or take the whole console out. If anyone knows of a step by step instruction on how to get the center console out of my 01civic that would be great. I have included a picture of the storage area that i cannot get open which i am point out with a screwdriver.
thanks, jay

Re: can't open center console drawer
the top console piece around the ebrake will pop off if you yank up on it and the pocket will come with it. then once you have the trim piece off, remove the screws holding the pocket together and it will open in half. its gonna be difficult to pull up the trim piece cause usually you need to open the pocket and stick your fingers in it to get more pulling force.
Re: can't open center console drawer
gearbox, thanks for your help. I thought i was going to have to take the whole console apart. I took your suggestion and modified it. Only took me one try to get it out. I used a set of vice grips on the edge of the drawer and on the center console tray. I got it out on the first pull. After that it was just removing the obivious screws and un-clipping the clips so that i could get the drawer pocket into two pieces so that i could empty the drawer so i could open it agian. All said and done it only took me 20 mins. thanks for the advice gearbox.
