more and less power after lubricating clutch slave cylinder

Hi,

this is a little bit strange to explain:

I got this squeaky clutch sound under the hood so I removed the slave cylinder and lubricated the joint in the release fork.

When I put things together and drove the car it felt with more power than before (I could easily make tires to screech) so I was more than happy

but days passed and I felt the car went back to its previous condition.

I mean the car was OK and still drives OK but I feel it has lost this quick pick-up it got after I lubricated the joint.

any ideas how to regain this condition permanently ?

thanks in advance.

Re: more and less power after lubricating clutch slave cylinder

thanks, I already did that and the behavior is the same

when I first installed the new slave cylinder I felt the car with more power but after some driving I felt it lost what it has gained before.

could be something related to the release fork? is there any adjusting I can do to it?

Thanks again

Re: more and less power after lubricating clutch slave cylinder

I´ve been thinking maybe I did something wrong at the time of installing the slave cylinder...

can someone outline a procedure how to do this?

this is what I did:

1- unbolted the piece
2-lubricated with red grease (bearing grease) the joint in the release fork and the clutch slave cylinder
3- installed clutch slave cylinder and bleeded it
4-pump the clutch pedal a few dozen of times and that´s it.

can someone tell me if I did something wrong?

thanks

You still have air in the system. Bleed it again and again and again until there is no air left. I've seen people bleed these 10 times or more sometimes. Wait a little while before each bleed to give the air bubbles time to gather.

Re: more and less power after lubricating clutch slave cylinder

well, thank you very much.

I´ll do it right away!

can you tell me why air bubbles are bad for the system?

and I found this procedure:

is it the right way to do it?

Make sure the Master stays full, it shouldn't take but a couple of times before its done."

Re: more and less power after lubricating clutch slave cylinder

A liquid in an enclosed space exerts equal pressure in all directions. It acts like a solid and won't compress. Hence, when you push on the petal it acts as a solid on the other end of the line. Air compresses and won't provide the same amount of force as a solid on the other end.

The bleed procedure is fine.
