New Clutch?!

New Clutch?! So i got 2001 honda civic, and now my clutch could be gone? i need help. When the cars off the gears work fine. When the cars on it wont go into gear at all. but if i start it in gear and take the clutch off the the engine goes crazy! so its the clutch correct?? lemme know!! ASAP!!
