Whirring noise when I initially step on the accelorator
Hi, before I ask my expensive "friends" at my dealership, I thought I would ask if anyone has any thoughts about this problem my 2001 Civic started to have recently. When I first start my car and am on my way, I notice my accelerator makes a bit of a "whirring" sound as I am driving. We live in a very dry desert climate and I might be second guessing myself, but would hate to be wrong and perhaps my car only needs a bit of grease or something. The noise goes away after five minutes of driving. My last experience at the dealership was less than positive--the service adviser recommended I have the timing belts replaced on my vehicle since there was no record of them having been done before. Luckily, I keep a file of everything that I have had done on my car and take this with me when I go to the dealership. Turns out after checking, I had this work done just last year. (It is supposed to be done about every five years.) I am still wondering what would have happened if I had signed off on this very expensive maintenance and discovered later that it had been done already at the very same dealer. When I asked another adviser why this did not come up in their computer records, he checked and it was listed somewhere under "default".(Of course the first fellow was at lunch when I picked up my car.) I am very disappointed in this kind of service and wish I could find a dealership I could trust. Looking forward to hearing from you with any ideas about this.
