p0135 02 heater sensor

I just bought a 2001 civic ex. check eng light was on. hooked up to a obd2 and got code p0135 02 heater sensor. I understand this is the heater element of the 02 sensor. I replaced the 02 sensor yesterday and then unplugged the battery for about 15 minutes. after plugging the battery back in i sterted the civic. no light, but after about 15 or 20 seconds the check eng light is back on. any suggestions? is there a relay? can i test the circuit at any specific location? is there a fuse? I have decent mechanical abilities, but I have never done electrical work...

Re: p0135 02 heater sensor

I too am having this issue. I have a 2000 HONDA Civic EX 2dr 4spd automatic. I bought a Bosche Sensor and had no luck. I bought a DENSO one and still no luck. I've read alot of forums and now know its not the actual sensor's. Im clueless on what to do or look for now. I also checked all my fuses and they're all fine.

There's an open somewhere in the circuit. You're gonna have to test wires between the sensor and PCM. Download or get a service manual and it will tell you exactly how to find the open in that circuit. I don't have a manual for 6th gens or I'd email it to ya.

What exactly is the PCM, and how is it done?

I don't have a 6th gen manual meaning I have no schematics meaning there is no way I would know which wire is which. You need schematics from the manual and a multimeter to check this out.

A PCM (Powertrain Control Module) controls the running of the engine, it's like the brain of the car.
