Found oil in a grate on the side of my air filter...?

So I was driving today about 50-60 highway miles, had to stop at a gas station for something and randomly decided to pop my hood. Right above the engine, I see this pooling of oil in one of the grates on my air filter:

Does anyone (aka gearbox) know what could cause this? I haven't noticed any performance issues and no codes are showing. And I'm probably just being paranoid.

Re: Found oil in a grate on the side of my air filter...?

is it possibly leaking from the inside of the air cleaner housing? open it up and see... honda put in a small oil trap guard inside to kinda catch the oil if any comes from the pcv breather hose. it might have been sitting so long that it ate thru the plastic or something. usually oil coming out the hose and into the filter housing is rare, but it does happen as normal operation. can also indicate a clogged pcv valve. see my thread about cleaning it if you havent already. they are metal and carb cleaner will get all the gunk out so you can reuse it.

Re: Found oil in a grate on the side of my air filter...?

thanks man, as always. I'll check it out tomorrow. That is possible, one of the bolts was stripped and removed on the air filter so maybe that is causing it. I'll also make sure to clean out the PCV too.

everyone on here, bow down to Gearbox.
