Acura EL

apparently someone doest like me gravedigging old topics so i'll post a new one.
I'm gonna be getting a 1997 acura el,
and the rear shocks are finished, and i figured that since they need a change anyway i might was well upgrade.
Does anyone know what applications I should look for when looking for suspention and stuff?
Do they mount exactly the same as a 1997 civic 4dr/HB?

Yes.
For the 1.6 EL, use same-gen Civic shocks/struts (for sedan), and use Integra springs if you upgrade those, too.
I'm not too sure about Koni (they might require alterations of some sort), but everything else should just mount up directly if you stick to this rule, although you should always double-check when possible.

When you're looking at the weight of the car, it goes like this:

6th Gen: Civic < 1.6 EL < Integra
7th Gen: Civic < 1.7 EL < RSX

IOW, your EL is heavier than a Civic, but lighter than the Integra. If you use Civic springs, you're guaranteed to sag in the rear. Use the Integra application springs, though, and no sag.

Sure do, although mine's a 1.7 (2004 model). Wicked cars - all the reliability of a Civic, with the luxury add-ons that most Civic owners would love to upgrade to.

Re: Acura EL

do you have aftermarket parts on it?
if so where do you get them from, and what have you swapped?

Re: Acura EL

Nothing much just yet...
Check the first few posts here, though:

You'll have a pretty easy time finding aftermarket stuff. The 1.6s are well supported. The 1.7s... not so much.
