Exclamation 2005 Civic EX HELPP!!!!

Hello all,
So tonight while pumping gas, I managed to get the gas nozzle stuck in the gas tank momentarily. I have no idea how. With a gentle giggle I got the nozzle out, however I noticed the metal flap\door inside the actual fuel door isnt there anymore. I have no idea what that metal piece is called, but now there is nothing protecting foreign substances\objects from entering the tank. I have no idea what the piece does, or if its in my tank, what to do if anything. Please help me as I have no idea what to do.

Thanks

Re: 2005 Civic EX HELPP!!!!

The tank itself has a mesh to keep things out of it. The piece is in your tank but shouldn't plug the fuel system itself. I don't even know how you would go about replacing that??? hmmmmmmmmmm...... As far as foreign objects getting in I imagine your gas cap does the job just fine, so I wouldn't fret too much over it.

Re: 2005 Civic EX HELPP!!!!

you know, it's prolly resting on that mesh anti-siphon device. unless it's all connected..
the one topic I'm not too terribly savvy on, is the fuel system..

Re: 2005 Civic EX HELPP!!!!

from the drawing, it looks like its an assembly piece (#26), and it's a cheap piece (about $5)

the tank is accessible from the inside (pull up the rear seat bottom cushion, the metal plate is #34 in the drawing), and that's how you get to the in-tank fuel pump..
