Anther recommendation is to look for another shop that will give you a better quote.

Yeah you may want to look around for better prices.

I got a brand new tranny with a 3year/unlimited mile warranty and labor for $2400

talk to a shop about rebuilding it. honda dealer is a ripoff. there is no sense in getting another used trans if it will just break again.

Re: 2001 Tranny Dead..

Swap in a manual? It might cost you a little more now, but it will last you the life of the car. It all depends on how long you wanna keep it I guess. Another suggestion is do it yourself. It's really not all that hard it's just very time consuming and it could be a fun little project. Just a thought.

Honda dealership wanted to charge me around 1800 dollars to change a head gasket. This did not include a timing belt, water pump, or tensioner. None of that stuff, just strictly a head gasket. Just to give you an idea of how bad they rip people off.

I was there the other day and a lady was getting an inspection, air and cabin filters, oil change, and new floor mats and they charged her 425 dollars. She was an older lady and probably did not know better. The car was maybe 6 months old???
