Hey guys, This is my first time working on a Honda but im helping a friend out with their timing belt. I have everything dissassembled but I am **** about making sure the timing is correct before reassembling and starting for the first time. I have the ALLDATA printout that states the cam pulley should say UP so your not 180* out I guess, and the two marks should be flush with the top of the head. Its kinda hard to visually look at that so I took a metal ruler and used it as a straightedge to see if the marks are correct. They look correct.

On the Crank pulley I have the one line lined up with the triangle mark on the timing cover. I removed the crank bolt with my powerful impact b/c I didnt have the special tool, nor can I get the tool.

My question is, Can I take my 3/8 impact to the crank bolt to retighten it as long as I dont lay into it with 200ft lbs of torque? The spec is very low, 14ft lbs I believe b/c this type of engine as it rotates tightens the bolt itself even more?

And also am I timing the pulleys correct as explained above? I'm trying to be nice and help a friend out and I have a fairly well good auto experience, just this is my 4th timing belt, but 1st on a honda with all of these critical markings. Thank you! Hope someone can ease my stress on this.

Its pretty simple just turn the cam gears, the dots should be straight up and the lines should be lined up beside each other, and the crank just needs to be set to TDC which is basically the same ordeal as the cams just line the dot/line to the other. Then put the belt on then just readjust the valves.

And not to sure bought using the impact wrench on the crank pulley. Dont see why you would need it though.
