Hi,
Lately, my Honda Civic 2004 Exi has been accelerating and de-accelerating oddly. It speeds up all of a sudden at times and then at other times, after stopping at a traffic signal for instance the car stalls and refuses to move no matter how hard the gas pedals are pressed down. And then after minutes it gets going again. Any ideas/solution regarding the problem would be really appreciated.

Hello, i have a 2009 Civic, we have seen a few instances of the exact same problems. Sudden acceleration, actually had an accident. She also had placed the car in reverse twice, but the car lunged forward instead on two occasions, she was with her aunt when it happened. That has happened twice. Also, the car felt like it was going to shut off when slowing down to stop at the light. I think we are going to sell it.

unfortunately honda switched to electronic throttle in 2006+ (no cable) and this causes problems because basically pressing the gas pedal is processed by the computer instead of actually opening the throttle. i drove a new civic and this was a huge concern of mine and there was always a noticable lag when you press the pedal. i can only imagine alot of problems can happen when something goes wrong. more technology = more problems. only thing i recommend is have the dealer check to make sure you have the latest software installed.
