have you checked the mechanisms? remove those two black plastic trims on each side and see if one of the sliders is binding or a cable came off. its much easier for the roof to open than to close, so it may just be sticking or one of the motor cables snapped or came loose. if the roof is open and you need to close it, there is a tool that should have come in your utility pouch in the trunk when you got the car. you can use that to manually open and close the glass.
motor is not easy to swap, you have to take off most of the moonroof parts (glass, sliders, visor, drainage pan) and the headliner to even see it. i would try and first figure out the problem before getting a new one.

No i havent checked it...
ill check tomorrow. can i get to the trim part from inside the car? do i need any tools to take it off?
