New IAC and still idle problems

2001 Civic EX had low idle/stalling issue. Cleaned IAC and did not fix. Replaced IAC with factory OEM part from Honda. When first started after replacement idle was perfect, after goosing gas pedal idle stopped at 2k rpm them fluctuated between 1000-1500 rpm. Tried "idle learn" but still idle is screwed up. If I turn car off then restart idle is fine until I press the gas pedal again. Any suggestions? Do I need to bleed air out of IAC coolant lines? If so, any special procedure?

Re: New IAC and still idle problems

mine does that if i do not relearn the idle (rpms do not fall down fast enough or get stuck first). did you use a new gasket for the iac valve? how did you do the idle learn?

Re: New IAC and still idle problems

The dealer gave me a print out on doing the idle learn. 1st start up and run motor at 3k rpm until fan comes on or 194 degrees is reached then let motor idle for 5 minutes (not counting any time the fan is on). I tried this but I either did it wrong or it didn't take. I used all new parts when installing the new IAC. I also replaced all the vacuum hoses while I had it apart. I will try pulling the fuse on the ECM and retrying the learn procedure to see if that works. If it doesn't , I'll be back looking for help again for sure.

best way to do idle learn is drive the car til its warm, turn off, pull out FI ECU fuse, put back, start car, close hood, let it idle for 10 mins without using any accessories or pressing the gas. this might not work in the winter if its too cold and the engine cannot stay warmed up.

Re: New IAC and still idle problems

Did it start working because you used gearbox's idle learn steps?

I hate to bring back to life something this dead... but I did try this after having my car stall constantly every time I pushed the clutch in. Worked flawlessly after! Good info for anyone that runs into this.
