new brake pop or click noise at low speeds
new brake pop or click noise at low speeds
I just purchased a 2005 Civic EX about a month and half ago. I just noticed that the brakes make an audible pop or click when I step on them at low speeds. This seems to happen about half the time or so... not every time. I'm pretty sure this just started happening. I can feel it in my foot as well. It happens sometimes right at the start of braking, but sometimes it doesn't happen until the brake is almost fully pressed in.
I tested braking while in park, with the car on, and noticed that the (automatic) gear shifter makes a noise when I press the brakes.
I'm not sure if this is related or a possible cause, but I had a flat rear driver's side tire this week. Put on the donut, took it in, and they repaired the tire for for free (small nail). When I left the place and was driving around, I started noticing the click after that. (On a side note, the tire is now flat again after sitting for a day - arg).
Thanks for any advice.

Re: new brake pop or click noise at low speeds
well the gear shifter is supposed to make a click in park, that is the lockout switch disengaging (otherwise you cannot move the shifter if your foot is off the brake). as for the click while driving, that is normal but only should happen one time the first time you brake. its the self adjusting mechanism of the calipers/abs. if it keeps happening, i would have the brakes looked at, maybe something is loose. if the click is coming from inside, every time you press the brakes, you need to rotate the brake light switch 180 degrees (switch is located behind the brake pedal and activates the brake lights). it was incorrectly installed at the factory.
