AWFUL squeal

Okay, So about two days ago I have noticed that when I start my car up in cold weather or turn my a/c on my car makes an AWFUL squeal.

At first I thought maybe it was my belts checked them, no. Could it be the compressor or the fan? I am so aggravated, because normally I can find the problem and fix it on my own. But It is giving me a HUGE Headache.. BLAH

Re: AWFUL squeal

its just a loose or tight belt. usually the a/c belt but could be the ps or alternator belt too. it has to be a belt, thats the only thing that makes a squealing sound. usually the belt is too loose. you can try to spray some belt dressing carefully while it is making noise, and if the noise changes or becomes louder, you know its the belt.

I'm going to look at it this weekend put it on the lift. I'm thinking it might be the ps. I've checked all the belts already though and none of them are loose. aagggh it's pissing me off lol thanks

the belt could also be damaged and make noise.
