Strange drivetrain noise
Strange drivetrain noise
Lately my 2004 DX with MT, 110,000 km, is making a whirring, mechanical noise, something like an old sewing machine. The noise only occurs when the car is in gear, moving. The noise is directly related to engine speed, not road speed. It will not make the noise when it's in neutral. The noise is getting progressively louder, as time goes by. Thing is I thought I asked for the transmission oil to be replaced at last service, however going through my receipts it looks like this was not done. As the noise sounds like its coming from the transaxle, I'm thinking its low on oil, which will be dealt with in a couple of days.
