So I've been having this issue come up roughly 60-70% of the time I start my car. It will be fine when in park, but once I switch to drive and get about 20 feet forward, the car stops responding to the throttle, begins to bog down, and will shake slightly. If I press down on the throttle more the revs will kick back up and the car will go again....for about 30 feet and then it happens again. It will usually do this 3 times or so and then begins to run normal for the rest of the trip, no matter how long. There are no lights coming up saying that there is anything wrong with the car/sensors/etc...

The car is an 02, with about 83k miles on it. The one thing I've done to contribute to the problem is that it's only been driven about 2000 miles in the last year, and there were various periods where the car wasn't run for a month. Is there anything that could be wrong that A) would cause the bogging issue, B) would be made worse by not running the car consistently, c) would not set off the check engine light?

This problem has stumped my local experts so I'm turning to you guys for some tips. I am trying to sell this car so I need to fix this before i do. PLEASE HELP!

The throttle body has been cleaned.

I just got it to occur in park without pressing the throttle. It was idling rough at only around 500 RPM, and stayed that way for about 30 seconds. I quickly pressed on the throttle and when I let off it idled just fine. WTF!

Bump. Any suggestions? Do these cars have an FITV or only an IACV?

only IACV. its the piece on the throttle body where the 2 coolant lines connect to. did you clean that yet?
