It's from a dealership, 2002 Honda Civic EX Coupe for $5595. Clean carfax (and only one previous owner), 4 speed-auto. And it's got 116535 miles (too many miles?). Is this a good deal, should I go buy it tomorrow?

pretty good deal but the 01-02 auto trans had some serious issues. drive the car when cold and see if you notice and slipping between gears.

Thanks for the replies guys, the only thing I'm worried about are the miles. Should I look for an older model civic (like 1995-2000) with fewer miles for the same price. Or is 116000 miles ok? I drove the car yesterday and it seemed to be in great condition.

If the major 110k service was not done... you would be overdue. Not safe.
I would also be careful if it is an auto due to the early issues that are well known.
You have to be cautious with ANY used car purchase.

What exactly is the issue with 02 civic's transmissions? Before I purchase the car I would definetly get it checked out by a mechanic, he would be able to identify any issues wrong with the transmission right? Also, what costly maintanance things should have been done to the car by 116k miles? And I should both ask for papers proving those things were done to the car, and verify by a mechanic right?
I'm not too knowledgeable about cars lol.

The early 7th gen autos are prone to some issues. Some work fine others fail.
As mentioned, I would drive it from stone cold and check for slipping/reving when it is shifting.
Check for records of previous transmission fluid service over it's life.
The 110k service is timing belt, water pump, tensioner. Spark plugs and both drive belts.

Thats not too bad of a deal from a dealership. I got my 01 from a private seller for $3800 with 89k on it. But watch out for the tranny, they can be a problem.
