Thermal Protector $480 to replace????
I have a 2004 Civic and the AC has been intermittent for the past month. I'm new to Florida and do not have a trustworthy mechanic yet. Took to a private mechanic-paid $100 for them to look at and research problem for 4 hours-freon ok-thought it was electrical but couldnt figure out. Brought to a Honda dealer today-3 hours later they determined it was the thermal protector and it needs to be replaced-in order to do so-they must empty freon and replace it-$480 is what they quoted me. I know the part is only about $50. Is this outrageous?? I plan on calling a few more Honda dealers tomorrow for quotes but not sure who else since I dont know any honest mechanics here in the Tampa Bay area.
Thanks for the help!
