A/C not cool, compressor works... Hmmm??

When I turn the a/c on, the compressor kicks on i think (idle drops then re-settles).
So I went to top it up with r12a, but when I put pressure guage on, showing 100+ PSI... around 110, 120? which is normal?
What else can I check to get my A/C nice and ice cold?
