My tag light is out on my '05 Civic. I went with the simplest solution and bought some replacement bulbs. Popped them in: still no light. The old bulbs were definitely burnt out (dark residue on the inside). So my next simple solution is to check the fuse. Well checking the fuse box under the hood and the fuse box under the steering wheel doesn't tell me which fuse is for those lights (or indeed if those lights have their own fuse). Anyone have any ideas?

should be a fuse under the hood. the small light fuse is near the top in the center. could be that, or a pinched wire for the lights. check to be sure the wires look okay around the trunk.

Yes, I found the small light fuse and it looks fine. The other trunk lights are working fine also (inside trunk, spoiler brake light, reverse lights). Each of the two tag lights has its own discrete wiring harness as far as I can see - not sure where they come together - can't see any pinched wires.

hmm i thought the park lights were all tied together. not sure what else you can check. maybe unplug the connectors and test the wires with a multimeter to see if voltage is getting to the plug. maybe its just a bad socket connector or even burnt/melted bulb holder piece.

Is this a coupe ?? If so the only bulbs that would be fed from the taillight circuit going to the trunk would be for the licence plate lights.

I would say you have the single broken wire in your loom and wiring mentioned in the link, RED/YELLOW is the wire color.
