the group of civics for a given style, for example 2006+ civic is 8thgen, 2001-2005 is 7thgen, etc. 1st gen is the very first civic to be released. generally for each gen, civics are very similar and mostly use the same engine and body parts. small cosmetic changes usually happen a couple times every gen like different headlight and tails, bumpers, some interior goodies.

92-95 is the 5th gen
