My car is starting to make this noise, it sounds like i have a piece of metal dragging under the engine when I'm driving. I'm thinking it's the transmission, it started this morning. Anyone got any clues or similar problems? Help would be awesome. Thanks.

Well the noise sounds like a rattling sometimes it sounds like it's straight up ahead of me sometimes it sounds like it's toward the left.
And I can heard it better when I get off the gas around 2500rpm.

could be alot of things... got a video cam? let us hear it. could be tranny, ur engine, anything. lol

Is your car auto or man? If its manual and it does it only upon acceleration my main guess would be the transmission rear pinion bearing. On deceleration also, that would be the front pinion bearing. I would start there first.

mine rattles too .. but doesn't sound like the tranny cuz i only hear it in 1st, 2nd gear about 1-3000 rpm .. after that the rattling disappears .. i dun have a heat shield .. i dunno what it could be

Okay, so, my dad needed a car for the weekend and he noticed the sound, he took it to the repair shop, and it was just something hanging around in the engine.

Weird. But yeah, nothing more haha.
