I'm looking to replace my steering box with something a lot more high-performance, preferably something that is in the range of 1/4 turn in each direction to go from straight to locked (left or right), typically "1/2 turn lock-to-lock"

What high-performance steering modifications are available?

I havent heard of anything. I'd be interested in some steering modification tho, maybe not that tight, maybe like a full turn total or something not so... nascar.

A childhood friend had a BMW 2002 that a German mechanic rebuilt (but didn't touch the steering). He had me driving it one evening, chasing him through a parking lot & around more than one hairpin curve. I know why they call it "the ultimate driving machine" - because I've never driven anything else that steered as sharply and smoothly as that. 2002s are nearly impossible to find, and I already own the Civic. I don't expect to find any kind of steering box replacement, but it's on my list - just in case.
