Exclamation Warped head after only 60000 Miles?!? Really need some input here

so heres the story im not home im away at school and my father called me to tell me he used my car (2004 civic EX) the other day and the check engine light came on....no big right? its around 60000 miles so prob a tune up light. normally i would have just shut it off, well he decided he was bringing it to get looked at and come to find out......i have a warped head! what the @&@* is that about after 60?!?.

so what i was wondering from everyone is first of all has this ever happened to anyone else?, and also what am i looking at for a new head price wise and labor seeing as im not home to take care of it.

this really sucks.

I have a head that was recently milled, complete valve job and guides replaces. I have $400 into it as of 2 months ago. 1 month ago it rained here, my car sucked water and bent a rod. I couldn't let State Farm take the head I just put so much money into $150 plus shipping and it's yours.

Good lookin' out there Dallis.

If the head really is warped, buy that head from Dallis, you can't find a better deal.

I don't see how the "shop" could look at the head, wave their magic diagnostic wand and say, "Yep. Warped head. Now give me monies." They would have head to pull the head and check it, or there would have been other obvious signs.

Get the code that caused the CEL and post it up. Seems a little fishy if you ask me.

ok just found out the head was checked out and is not warped musta just been the gasket however the cost of the repair was 1500$ ......granted the labor for removing the head and putting it back on was the majority of that cost...dumb wish i was home to do it myself , o well

you paid 1500 for a head gasket? was it the dealership or an independent?

why did you blow a gasket at 60k miles? did you over heat the engine?

usually honda engines can withstand a beating more than 100k before they need that kind of attention...unless you over heat them that is.

it was a dealership.....listen I'm not there to take care of it soooo not in my hands, and i have no idea how it got warped the whole situation is ridiculous i just want my damn car back and out of other peoples hands . and yes 1500$ i dont know for what exactly yet but they said the head did not need to be replaced however they machined it down but 1500$ went somewhere i cant wait to find out where exactly .

P.S. it is now fixed and apparently from what I'm told it runs much better.......but it never ran shitty when i was driving so i wont notice a difference.....
