Ok where the hell is the fuel filter in my 02 ex?
Why cant they put it in the engine compartment as in most cars?

I checked under the car - not there. Only place is in the gas tank.
Is it hard to change? What is involved?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

i believe it's under the back seat above the gas tank. if i'm not mistaken you have to get to the fuel pump.

in the gas tank, have fun. doesnt need to be changed unless fuel pressure drops below spec. otherwise waste of money and time

yes and no.
Yes cause my father's camry has 200+k on the clock and he hasnt changed the filter. Runs fine.

No cause I have 100k and with AVG mileage of say 34mpg that means the filter has filtered 2941 gallons of gas. Even with the good quality of fuel overall in the US, that's a lot, for any filter and if I can get one for $20 that's not a bad idea IMHO.

But thanks for confirming it's location. I'll see what I can do this weekend.

how do you know its clogged, if you didnt measure the fuel pressure?

didnt say it is clogged. Just said for $20 it's not a bad idea to change it.

Just like you dont know if your oil filter is clogged but you change it when you change your oil anyway. for my own peace of mind.

the filter is non servicable. most newer cars, especially imports only have one filter and thats on the fuel pump. the only way to change it is a whole new fuel pump. waste of time and money if you do it. it wont change your gas mileage or the way your engine runs.

I have a 2003 Honda Civic Ex Sedan I purchased in 2006. An older couple owned it before I did they put 12,000 miles on it in 3 years. It now has 35,000 miles on it I have ran fuel treatment threw it and changed the air filter. Our honda dealer said to use chevron with techron. I havent noticed much of a difference really. When you start the car up in the morning it doesnt seem to run like it should. You put it in reverse and it has a mild vibration. Now once you drive it then its fine. Or get it out on the highway my step dad is a gm mechanic and can do the work. But we are at wits end tring to figure out what to do. I had a 2001 honda civic lx before this and it ran smooth even when the engine was cold no vibration in reverse either. If anyone can give me some tips I would appericate it greatly thanks

I wish you had posted that earlier. The other day I took out the fuel pump assembly looking for a filter other than the one on the pump. I gave up since it looked clean anyway.

Oh well one less thing to worry about.
