Heater, Rad, motor problem?? Help

Hello, my car doesn't produce hot air through the vents, before and after i got the head worked on. I changed the thermostat and still nothing, also the radiator fan won't turn on unless i use the climate controls inside the car and the lower rad hose is cold while the top hose is burning hot, any ideas? I can see that the coolant probably isn't circulating properly but why wouldn't my rad fan kick on by itself.. i mean i can let the car run for days and it still wont go, its maddening. Help anyone?

Thanks

Re: Heater, Rad, motor problem?? Help

i thought top hose is supposed to be hot, and bottom cold. thats how mine is, the bottom is the one returning from the radiator after being cooled. for the fan to kick on, its gotta be very hot. mine only comes on once or twice when its 90F outside and i let the car idle after a long drive. have you tried bleeding the coolant for air bubbles? you may just not have coolant reaching the heater core. or it might be clogged. or your temp switch may be broken. there is the fan temp switch located very close to the thermostat you could replace to see if that fixes the fan problem. is the bottom hose COLD, or just warm. if it is not warm at all, then prolly a stuck thermostat. i know you changed it, but thats what it is.

bleed the system completely & go from there.....cooling fans kick on at 97 degrees...takes mine like 30-40mins of idle & short trips for it to come on

Re: Heater, Rad, motor problem?? Help

Well i took it to a shop, took a look at it did some little tests and concluded that something in the cabin of the car is not letting the hot air though the vents, the hoses are hot the heater core isn't faulty its just being blocked by something.. probbaly whatever hte middle button with the cold-to-hot air controls. Is there some sort of door there or cable that may be defective? anyone encounter this at all?

Re: Heater, Rad, motor problem?? Help

yup i bet its the temperature switch. basically it gets stuck and the lil doors wont move to let heat in. same happened to my bros rsx where it got stuck in hot mode and the ac would not blow cold at all. turns out it was just the switch that went bad.

Re: Heater, Rad, motor problem?? Help

Resurrecting and old thread but...I have heat when I'm moving but no heat at idle. Doesn't matter how hot the coolant temp is, it won't blow heat unless moving or revving high enough...does this sound like the heater core or something else? Doesnt' seem like it would be the door you guys are talking about, since it works with only changes in rpm...

NEVERMIND! Further searching may have solved my issue...
