What can it be?

Had to ask ya'll to see if anybody is or had experienced this issue. I had my timing belt replaced last year on my 2001 EL (EX Civic) august and for the past few months I have been hearin this squeling sound from around the crank pulley. Not really sure on how to explain this but its really annoyin. Sometimes it doesn't occur but most of the time it does. Usually when I first start the car. Does anybody know what this might be and how to solve it? The stealership is full of ****.

Re: What can it be?

prolly loose belt tension, either timing or the other accessory belts that they usually take off to get more room when changing the big one.

I doubt it's the Timing Belt since that belt is held in place by teeth. If it was slipping, you'd have a lot more trouble than a squealing sound. I'd guess the P/S or A/C belt or both are loose. Check out the Timing Belt DIY to see how to tension the belts and give that a try and see if it eliminates the noise.

Good point. Are those known to make noise when they fail or are failing?
