keyless entry

i want to buy a keyless entry for my 2003 civic lx coupe. one of my friends told me that i need the stock radio to program it. is that true, or can i program it anyway?

if you have power locks, its super easy to add keyless. just buy aftermarket alarm and have it installed. has nothing to do with stock deck, thats only on older civics pre 2001.

^^ i think hes talking about a OEM remote. Just a thought.

idk how valid that point is about programming it, but I know my OEM remote works with my Alpine headunit.
also, Im kinda suprised you dont have keyless entry if you have power locks?

Well, like gear pointed out, 6th gen and previous civics had the keyless entry integral to the OEM headunit.

So I understand why he would think that, but it's not a relevant issue with our cars.
