Idling issues with an automatic
Idling issues with an automatic
So I have a 2001 Automatic Civic and I just had my head fixed and the guy told me when i get back to my house to adjust the valves. So when I got home I did exactly that well the problem now is that my car barely starts up. If I try to put it in gear it will not move unless i rev it up first. I think it is trying to idle a little under 500 rpms and I know its suppose to idle at like 1500 rpms. My question is that is it doing this because I may have tighten some of the valves too much? and if so which side should i try to loosen, the exhaust or intake valves? Please help me thanks

normal idle is 700rpm +/- 50rpm. do you know how to adjust valves? there is a whole procedure with precise specs to follow using a feeler gauge.
Re: Idling issues with an automatic
Well i just finished with my car yesterday. I got it up and running so all the valves are technically good. My only problem now is one of my valves on the exhaust side actually the very first valve beside the camshaft the spring has broken off from the stud and the rocker arm so now every time i crank it up it has a bad clicking sound from where the spring is being pushed down and not going back up with the rocker arm and then coming and hitting it so I need to change that or fix it. I looked for a thread on here about fixing it but couldn't find one so if you could help me or maybe you know where a tread is talkin about it that would be great.
