01 civic dies when cold.....runs good hot
Hi guys,
Newbie here. Thanks for reading. Trying to diagnose my girlfs car. 01 civic, auto with 1.7, 105K. From what I know I dont think its never had the timing belt replaced. Here is the symptom.
Upon initial start up in the morning.....the car will turn on but hesitates and bogs down and sometimes dies. You have to give it gas to stay on but once its warmed up for like 10-15 seconds it idles fine.
Still gets good milage and drives good. Just that annoying startup issue in the mornings. What can this be? IACV?
Thanks for any suggestions.

Re: 01 civic dies when cold.....runs good hot
OK. This morning just out of curiosity I had my girlf turn the Key on but left the engine off for about 15 secs to see if maybe the fuel pump just needed to build up pressure to the injectors....sure thing......this morning it didnt have any trouble. Im wondering if the fuel pump is giving out.
Re: 01 civic dies when cold.....runs good hot
I'll have to do a pressure test on it then. Its not leaking externally since i dont see any leak or wetness around any of the fuel lines. Maybe one of the injectors is leaky. But then again that would cause stumbles and after it warms up the car runs like a champ.
Could be alot of things. I'll start with the basics. Cleaning the TB and IACV. Then move onto the fuel pump/filter if it still remains.

Took fuel pump assembly off and the fuel filter. Pick up ccreen looked OK. I took some carb cleaner to it and cleane dout some varnish it had on it. I dissasembled the pump and took off the main filter. I was able to blow air through it rather easily so that tells me it doesnt need ot be replaced. Im going to check my valve adjustments tomorrow and if thats not the problem then I think its got to be either a weak fuel pump or a bad pressure regulator.
I need to do a fuel pressure test but i cant find an adapter to go into the stock fuel line. Ii foun done online but its almost 50 bucks. More than my pressure tester itself. Anyone know how to adapt someting to the line to attach a pressure gauge to it?
So thats where my issue stands.
