Exclamation Help??? Please..

i have a friend whose car wont start sometimes when he turns the key in the ignition..
like when you put the key in & turn it...nothing happens...no clicking noises like it wont roll over but its just completely silent except the electrical going on like the automatic door locks..
you have to try a couple or a few times then it will start up and work fine.. \

ANy ideas???

remember its not making any noises...complete silent when the key is turned... so it cant be like the battery or anything..

THANKS

Re: Help??? Please..

i say starter, try hitting the starter with a hammer, and see if it starts, or at least starts clicking

Re: Help??? Please..

Dont hit it with a hammer... If its not the battery you have lights that come on right? Do you year the imbolizer and the fans if you turn them on?

Re: Help??? Please..

now whats wrong with hitting it with a hammer, it always works for me when starter goes out, all it is is a flat spot on the solenoid, its quite easy, and effective

Re: Help??? Please..

I dunno, up to you, I never heard of that, but hitting anything with a hammer, except the OEM perches to get the tie rod off, never seems to help anything.

Re: Help??? Please..

Nope, it's OK. Hit it with a hammer. This is an old trick that has been around for a lot longer than most of us have been alive. Don't beat the **** out of it, but a solid whack will cure it if it is the starter, and won't hurt it if it's not.

Here's the starter. You may have to remove your stock intake to get to it. I don't remember since mine has been off for so long.

Re: Help??? Please..

i almost gaurantee its the starter, just try the hammer thing, its a really easy way to tell if its gone bad, ive been a mechanic for a living for the last 5 years, im working for ford now, yes at a stealership, its a old trick, but a good one, ive done it multiple times
