checking for battery drainage

I need to know what are the steps for checking for battery drainage. I haven't driven my car for a week and when I tried to start it nothing came on. No lights or anything lit up. Someone please get back at me asap.

1. check to see if u left any lights on inside, or out, if no lights on....

2. jump it, drive it for at least 20 minutes

3. after driving it, turn it off, and try to restart it, if it doesnt restart, then u need to get the battery tested, which would probably mean that the battery is bad

Re: checking for battery drainage

1. Get a voltmeter
2. While the car is on check the the system should read 14.4ish volts. If its significantly lower then you have problems with the alternator.
3. With the car off the battery should be reading 12ish volts(i think). If its lower then you probably have a bad battery.

Re: checking for battery drainage

I just had a big battery drainage a few weeks ago. I used a voltmeter and ran it inline. I set the voltmeter to 10 amps and unplugged the negative terminal. You plug the voltmeter to the negative battery terminal and Negative wire which is already grounded. You will then see your current draw. Make sure all the doors are closed or the lights will be one making it look like you have a giant drainage. A normal stock car should be around 40-80 mill amps. Anything above is too high. I had 370 mill amps and found out my Sirius attachment for my head unit was on constant power and wasn't shutting off. If it is high then start pulling fuses till it drops.
