ABS Grunt Noise???
Folks, I own a 2004 Honda Civic EX. It only has 16K miles and it started making a grunting noise (sounds like a pump) when I start driving the car in forward. My dealer told me this is a normal noise and that it's the ABS pump. It been getting louder and louder and I don't even think I can sell it at this point. I've even hear the noise while I've been driving for a while. This car is still under warranty and the dealer said that as the system ages pressure is lost after the engine gets turned off. He also said that my original warranty doesn't cover noises. Does anyone have any information about this issue and what course of action I should take. I've never driven a car that made loud pump noises that was "normal."...........Thanks
Re: ABS Grunt Noise???
you must be close to the end of your warranty. they are trying to blow you off. happened to me with a strut.. Nope, nothing wrong they said. when i took it apart myself the strut was toast.
although ABS does make a weird grunting noise when the system is activated i.e slam on the brakes.
and if it is loosing pressure. something is BROKE. warranty covers broken things.
My parents have an 01 CAVALIER with 194k. If it isn't losing pressure. a civic definatly should not.
I also drive FORD vans for a living with ABS. Some currently have 480k. They don't growl unless the brakes are slammed on.
So there is something wrong. Get them to fix it.
