no oil pressure
no oil pressure
I put the turbo on my car... and noticed when i was at idle the oil light would flicker and when i took off the oil light would go away... Well i pulled he oil filterand no oil came out of it and I found sand in the filter when i drained the oil there was no sand in it.... so i changed the oil and filter started the car and had zero oil pressure... what the hell happed... do i need a new motor... if so where do i get it.. Can it be that because the oil filter is clogged with sand that it created back feed on the pump and cause the seal on the pump to blow... if i change the oil pump will my motor be fine or is it possibel i screwed up bearings..

Re: no oil pressure
^^^^EXACTLY. What the hell are you talking about?
Allow me to try and translate.
1 You installed a turbo
2 After turbo is installed your oil light flickers at idle but stops flickering when you accelerate.
3 You get curious and remove the oil filter and find to your surprise no oil but sand instead.
4 You change the non-existent oil and filter for some new.
5 After you finish said oil change you still have no oil pressure.
*****Ranting and Raving begins*****
You ask if you need a new motor
If new motor is needed you want to know where to locate one
*****Speculation begins******
You speculate that some how sand was introduced into the motor which clogged the filter, which then caused the oil pressure to climb. The oil psi gets so high that it blow out the seal on the pump.
Then you ask if changing the oil pump will make the motor "be fine". You then conclude with asking if you screwed up bearings.
I think that is it...I don't speak moron very well but I do my best to communicate with the natives.

Re: no oil pressure
while i have no idea what you're talking about, how the hell do you get sand in a motor?
You sure its not metal shavings?

Re: no oil pressure
ok so i popped the seal on the pump... I got the car to get oil pressure... now my question is if i change my oil pump wil my motor be fine... My nock sensor hasnt set off the check engine light.... I put fresh oil and primed my oil pump... i have to prime it each time i start the motor... I have no metal in the motor so should i just change the oil pump or change the motor....

Re: no oil pressure
How do you have no metal in the motor? The motor is made of metal.
(I know, I am an ***.)
If you know you "popped the seal on the pump" but now the car has oil pressure. Did you replace the seal? If you did replace the seal did the pump look ok? I would recomend taking the car to a profesional. It sounds like you are way in over your head. Sorry, but learn to swim before you jump off the dock.

Re: no oil pressure
the sand may have been from casting sand from the manifold, or the turbo itself. the problem may have come from not cleaning your turbo or manifold, depending on type of construction on the parts.

Re: no oil pressure
it is HIGHLY unlikely that casting sand made it all the way through final production. Parts get cleaned way too many times.
You need to pull the girdle off and the rod caps and make sure you didnt spin a bearing. If you ran the car with 0 pressure, its likely you spun one, the only way to find out is to look. If you blew the seal, buy a new seal, and make sure you seat it properly in the pump, but first, check the bearings. If you spun one, you're gonna be in some major trouble, depending on the damage, but I wouldnt run the car without checking those bearings. (this would be the point where if you've never done motor internal work, you take it somewhere that knows what they're doing.

Re: no oil pressure
The only way i get oil pressure is if i rev the motor to like 4k and then the pump primes and its fine... I let the car sit and run at 3k for 5 hours and i got no check engine light from knock or nothing.. but I hate to do it but I am gonna take the gurdle off and check the bearings and make a decision from there... I got a pump and old motor the has a bent rod.. Hopefully everything is good... the sand came from my oil pan stupid ****in me didnt clean the **** out like it should have been...
