Honda Civic Tranny Scrape HELP PLEASE ASAP!!!!!!
Honda Civic Tranny Scrape HELP PLEASE ASAP!!!!!!
I have a 2001 Honda civic, and my third and fifth gear scrapes when I **** normal. I have to pause longer between shifting gear so that third and 5th do not scrape. I have been told about changing the fluid in the transmission, and I did. I took it to Honda and I watched them change it, but others have said to put like GM Synchromesh or some other type of fluid in besides what Honda puts in there. I am thinking about doing this, and wanted to know if anyone else out there with a civic has done this, because i do not want to do it and my transmission like mess up. Can someone give me the mixture and names and possible places to get the fluid. Or any other ideas! Thanks SOOOO much!

i would say that your synchronizers are worn out. if u have changed ur fluid, i would definetly say its synchros. just take it easy during shifts untill u get it fixed. it also happens if u dont depress the clutch fully during shifts.

Okay, cool, that is what I have been doing. But someone told me about some fluid that was thicker or something like Gm Synchromesh and it would stop the grinding because they used it in a acura, but I am scared to put that in my transmission because it isn't the same. I took it to honda and they said that it was my clutch going out and it should be replaced, but everything else on the clutch works just fine.
I'm bigger than you.
