04-05 front bumper question

I noticed that on my front bumper, some parts the paint is rough and doesn't feel like the rest of the paint. Most of the paint is very slick and smooth. But on the top edge of the bottom lip of the bumper, the paint feels very rough. I bought the car new and I know I have not had it repainted. I just wanted to know if it should be rough like some kind of protective coating, or if it should be slick like the rest. I wanted to see if someone could check their car and tell me how theirs is. I have circled the part that is rough. And this is not my car, just a pic for reference. Thanks.

Re: 04-05 front bumper question

umm... I work at a acura dealership, and i know when they get new cars in, they usualy use a acid to get rid of the crap that gets on the paint when the car is in transit. That crap thats on the paint makes the surface feel rough. They might have missed that spot when they were cleaning it... But to make sure go back to your dealership and ask them about it and see if they can fix it. I hope that helped.

wet sanding should get rid of the rough feeling. buy and assortment of wet sandpaper and start from a low grit paper and make your way up. you have to keep the surface wet so you dont mess up the paint.

Re: 04-05 front bumper question

Before you try overly abrasive methods like wet sanding. Try using a claybar.
