Basic reasons:
1. Wheel(s) out of balance
2. Alignment issue
3. Suspension parts loose/damaged
4. Snow/ice in wheel

#4 has been pretty common lately...

This happened to me once. Turned out that one of my front tired was damaged. The left half of the tire had a big lump on it and caused the steering wheel to shake at high speed. This is dangerous since the tire can pop at any time. Go it check out.

If it only does it when you brake then your rotors need turning. I replace mind and it completely stoped.

Re: Steering Wheel Shakes

It is the tires that are out of balance.

yup 99% of the time its a balance issue. either the shop doesnt know what theyre doing, or the weights fell off from not being stuck properly.

Re: Steering Wheel Shakes

get your tires balanced, have the guy check to see if the rubber is damaged or pounded, if it keeps happening after that then have the front end inspected. Maybe ya hit a pot hole or something? oh and if you get it balanced, make sure they DONT use stick on weights, make sure they are hammer on weights!!

Re: Steering Wheel Shakes

stick on weights work, you just gotta remount them with 3M moulding tape and they will not fall so long as the surface was prepped correctly. its gonna be fun trying to pry them off tho. after a week i tried to remove one with a screwdriver and it wouldnt move lol. but yea the sticky weight with foam the shops use is terrible and just falls off. and also most shop dont even clean the rim when they stick it, mine were dirty and they just put them on anyway lol

Re: Steering Wheel Shakes

you can usually get stick ons off with a pressure washer or a flat head screw driver and a hammer, tho I wouldnt recommend the screw driver method if you can see the area just in case ya miss and scratch the rim. The thing I hate about the hammer on type of weight is when companies mount them on the outside of aluminum rims, cuz it causes corrusion on the rim.

Re: Steering Wheel Shakes

lmao, and compliance bushing has no effect on shaking, only cornering.
