Exclamation Steering wheel viabrations

I have a viabration in my steering wheel and I have had it for almost two years now and its driving me insane!!

Its really not that bad but its just enough to annoy. It just feels like im allways driving over rough roads. Initially this was only occuring when I had my winter tires and rims on so I chaulked up the problem to poor wheel balancing.

However this past summer I installed my summer rims (04 EX rims) and i have started to get a viabration with those on too, again, not too bad but just enough to annoy.

Now that this is happening with both sets of wheels makes me thing it could be something else?

What else could be causing this, I beleive it usually happens (or I notice it more) at higher speeds but sometimes i think i can feel at lower speeds, as low as 60 km/h (~40miles/h). Also, sometimes it is better than other times making me think that it isnt a balancing issue.

One thing i do notice is if im driving on the highway and i feel the viabration, if i turn my steering wheel left to right slightly, i can feel the viabrations worse and wheel motion left to right not smooth at all. I dont know if this indications a suspension issue or not?

Now somehow I managed to warp the rotors but Honda machined them under warranty though i can still feel them warped, could this be causing the viabrations??

Could it be something suspension related? what could be causing this?? honda says they can find anything? I really need a solution, i been driving my car with the viabration longer than ive had it without, its really frustrating!!!

I though perhaps I was going insane and being too picky and test drove a used 04 coupe on a honda lot and that drove fine without viabration so i know something is wrong.........any help would be appreciated!!!!!!

check your tie rod ends, ball joints and bearings. also have your wheels re balanced. and have them balance them on a setting called alloy 2. you will get a better balance.

sounds like a bad wheel bearing possibly, do you hear any louder than normal road type noise?..... hummm, howl, growling type noise?

Re: Steering wheel viabrations

hey did you get the problem fixed? i had the same problem, i know how aggravation it is so ill just post this just in case u didnt get it fixed. my problem was in the brakes. It was because the lubercation had burned out in the small piston on the bracket, not on the caliper piston side. It's the little metal rod within the rubber cover on the bracket, its behind the 12mm bolt. if that doesnt move then theres your problem. Pry it out and lubercate that, if it doesnt come out just blow torche the end and then try prying it out.

Re: Steering wheel viabrations

I had the problem a while ago, it drove me nuts. I took it into canadian tire to get my wheels balanced, and the problem persisted. I finally took it in to honda, and they balanced my tires and that solved the problem the balance was off by 1-2 ounces on each tire.. I do not recommend Canadian Tire as a good place to get tires by the way, they wouldn't even give me my money back for the balancing.

Re: Steering wheel viabrations

i have a feelings it ur wheel bearing..either that or you need new rotors but if they had just been machined u shouldnt have that bad of a vibration. check to see how they were re-installed if theres anything faulty. take off the tires, jack it up, and checkto see if everything down there looks ok and isnt loose or dangling or gone lol

Re: Steering wheel viabrations

i have the same problem. except mines happened after i lowered my car on coilovers and had it dropped like 3 inhes all the way around. for about 6months and then i put my car back to stock . it did the shaking as well.
i bought new tires and balanced them correctly nad the shaking is not as bad anymore but still shakes. i have a couple blown struts. could this be the issues as well? the sterring if i let go while driving just shakes left to right loosely! wheel ball bearing perhaps? maybe something went bad when i dropped and raise it back up to stock hieght with stock suspension?

Re: Steering wheel viabrations

emmm .. Im in the same boat. So thought i cud share some info. Now lets see.

If you have AFTER MARKET WHEELS:
1) Try Installing some HUB RINGS
2) If that doesnt work and you have already gone bankrupt paying for Rotation and Allignments, I recommend change your wheels first before u touch the balljoints and bearings n stuff.
Try exchangine some stockm wheelies from a poor friend :-p
3) Nothing works, go for what the guys above said !

I would do the same If i had the money :-p So if you do. Try it and I will do the same aftewards !
