My dealer sucks, does yours?

Ok, so my car (2k2 Civic EX) makes that clunking noise when turning that many people on this board have had. I take it in to my dealer for that problem, and also for my free oil change that I'm supposed to get after buying the car. Eventually the lady working in the service department calls me up and tells me that the service guy drove around and couldn't replicate the sound. Now, I'm not crazy, I have this sound EVERY time I back up and EVERY time I pull in to park. I kinda give her a funny look and she says that maybe the service guy will ride with me and try it out. She calls the service guy and he says that the car is already up and in the process of getting the oil changed. So I keep waiting and after a while she calls me up again. She says that I'd have to come during a weekday and have them check it out again, which is pretty tough for me since I work from 8 to 6 (their service hours are 7:30-6) and it takes me about 45 minutes to get to work. She says that I could get a loaner, but only if they find the problem, which means that I could possibly be late to work for nothing. I'd have to of course wait for them to look at the car again.

So I figure, well, the hell with it, I'll just decide what to do later and maybe bring it in. I get outside and see my car and notice that it's just as dirty as I brought it in (I purposely didn't wash the car earlier because their oil change is supposed to include a hand car wash). Then I get into the car, and amazingly the sound is gone....that is until I park in front of my house, and it's been that way ever since. ON TOP OF THAT, I take a look at that little sticker that says when I need to take it in next, and it says my next oil change is in June or at 4370. Now, the problem is that my car had about 4100 miles on it when I brought it in, which would mean I'd bring it in around 7000 miles. That just topped it all....they couldn't even get that right.

I know it's nothing trumatic, but it just pisses me off that the dealer could be so sloppy. I had better service when I drove a 92 Buick LeSabre.

So to Napleton Honda in Oak Lawn, IL, I say..... .....kiss my a$$!

Well you aren't the only one that has had problems with a dealership. I have been through 3 different dealerships and they have all told me that they won't fix problems unless they can reproduce them. My suggestion is to go in and speak to the service manager tell him what's going on and tell him that there is a service bullitin on that problem and make him look it up. If he doesn't want to help you ask to speak to the general manager if he won't help you ask for the phone number for the zone manager. Call him you probably won't reach him but leave a message and they should return your call. While you do this call the customer service number. Make them document your calls and speak to a supervisor. Call the customer service number everyday until they decide to do something for you. Just bug the **** out of them eventually you will either have a lemon or they will fix the problems for you. Take the car in for the same problem once a week and make them document you bringing your car in. Make them give you copies of the service reports and keep copies. That's my 2 cents that way when they don't fix your car you have a VERY good lemon law case.

you could try another dealer and see if they could look at it at a better time. i dont know if you have other dealers within a reasonable distance. there are 5 somewhat near me.. JL Freed, Keenan (where i got my civic), Lehigh Valley, Pottstown and Conicelli, and all of those are within about 20 miles. if i went for a 50 mile radius i would get 15-25 dealers

Let me tell you what i hate the most about my dealer. First they suck and they bug the hell out of you. I bought my car last year, and I got the rims that they offer on the car(the Honda 14 inch rims). So I get the rims on and when i am driving about 70 to 80 the steering wheel like to vibrate. So i am really mad, because a new car should not ride rough. Took it back to the dealer ane they ordered a new set of rims (14inch Rage 5.0) They said they were a $1000 set of rims(bullsh$t) They ride like crap. So i went around to everywhere ti get mt tires balanced. The dealer says they fixed the problem, but they just want you out of there hair. John Hinderer Honda, Newark Ohio. I told them to fix the little touch light that is above the driver, because it sticks. Well i get into my car and leave it still freaking sticks. I HATE CAR dealerships. I hate my salesmen because he is a little punk. I think I am going to pay them a visit and raise some hell. Oh well i guess i needed a place to vent. Oh yeah I also am not crazy when they tell me that the steering wheel doesn't vibrate, that is because they drive it in a 35mph zone and not on the highway. Oh well

Why does anyone think that going to a different dealer for the same problem does any good? I have friends who work at dealers and they all tall me the same thing. IT DOESN'T MATTER!!! Everything that has been done to your car comes up in their computer. THEY KNOW ABOUT ALL THE PREVIOUS WORK whether you tell them or not. When they see your car has been fixed or attempted to be fixed by other dealerships they immediately avoid doing the work. Often times they contact the previous dealers to find out what has been done and what they know about the problem. With all of the possibilities in a customer using the LEMON LAW to get out of a car, they are very careful as to how many repairs they will make for the same problem. I know first hand that it MAKES NO DIFFERENCE!!

Not to mention that all dealerships suck. They're basically all glorified oil change specialists! In most cases you'll find that the dealer will hand you back your car with the repair made incorrectly just to get it out of the shop.
