when a car cranks and doesnt start, usually you have a fuel related issue or ignition issue. the vehicle needs fuel, spark, air and compression to start. if one of the 4 are missing, the engine will just crank and crank. if the timing belt was broken, you would know and hear it. you would hear the piston hitting the valves.

now if the engine wont even move, see if you can turn it over by hand. if you can without problem, your timing belt isnt damaged.
