Center console/armrest hard to open?

Is anyone else's center console armrest hard to open and shut? I can't figure out why mine does and i can't figure a fix for it.

Any opinions?

my armrest drove me nuts on my '05 Ex coupe, (same problem)
i used to move it up and down everyday because I like driving with it up.

It was even bothering me when it was up, so a couple months ago I just removed it,

I love not having it there anymore, I've always been planning to make some kind of sliding cover, but it's cold outside now and I'm too lazy...

wanna see what it looks like? i could take a pic...
